MSc/PgD/PgC Environmental Management

Environmental Management is an exciting and rapidly changing subject of increasing importance to all types of organisation, government bodies and groups throughout the world. Our interdisciplinary programme equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement environmentally sustainable solutions. The Division of Geography and Environmental Sciences recognises the needs of employees with environmental responsibilities whose career development depends on gaining further professional qualifications. Our high quality Environmental Management programme is currently in its eighth year of successful delivery as a part-time programme for employees studying by distance learning in the workplace. In 2002 we introduced the opportunity to undertake the programme through full-time study.

The programme is especially designed for graduates who wish to pursue a career in environmental management including employment in business, industry, local authorities, government departments, regulatory bodies, consultancies, advisory bodies, and environmental interest groups.

Superb internet-based resources and on-line learning materials have been especially designed for the programme. Full time students attend a demanding tutorial and practical programme supported by short courses giving the maximum opportunity to develop a sound theoretical understanding and practical skills in environmental management. Further details, on-line prospectus and application form are available at:

Prospective students are offered the opportunity to develop an individually-structured route which best meets their interests in environmental management with the possibility of specialising in:
