Leisure Review

The Leisure Review

Issue 7.1 of The Leisure Review is now available at www.theleisurereview.co.uk  In this update of the April issue you will find a refreshed news section, a new World of Leisure and a brand new Row Z.

Pride of place in the news section goes to the 17th National Sports Development Seminar, 8-9 September in Nottingham. Also in the news: the national strategy for play, a new initiative to revive youth facilities, tales from Whitehall and news in brief condensed yet further. Still in a news vein, World of Leisure takes on April and the Row Z column serves its purpose as the place for Sideliner to get a few things straight.

This months features include: John Mills, British Cycling's director of coaching, education and development, about the coaching, clubs and development behind the medals; Kim Wright, Hackney's corporate director for community services, on how leisure in Hackney has moved on and up; A Passion for Excellence, the culture and sport sector's first improvement strategy, a document that charts a future for better cultural services; and the extent to which the leisure sector takes its volunteers seriously.

And, with the Nottingham seminar confirmed and everyone in sports development all excited, another letter has flooded in to The Leisure Review letters page. I hope that you will be inspired to follow suit and let us have your thoughts on the current issues affecting all aspecting of the leisure, culture and sport sector.
